The
Gulf Harbors Fishing Club meets in the Gulf Harbors Civic
Association Hall the 3rd Thursday of the month. The doors open at
6:30 PM for members to chat; the meetings begin at 7:00 PM.
During
the meetings club members share their fishing experiences since the
last meeting. What they caught, what they used for bait, and where
they fished.
Guest
speakers are scheduled for the meetings. They include local charter
Captains that cover how to fish for the various species of fish in
our Gulf waters, what they use for bait, and where to fish. The
Coast Guard and Fish and Wildlife cover safety on the water and
fishing regulations. Local marine mechanics talk about boat and
engine maintenance and repair.
The
club also participates in the International Coastal Cleanup Day the
3rd Saturday of September. They pick up trash in our channels,
Anclote Island and the sandbar.
The
club also has several family outings during the year. For example:
picnics on the sandbar, on The Angelus grounds and local
restaurants.
The
club has a raffle at the end of each meeting; prizes include rod and
reel combos, fishing tackle, and other items for fishing or use on
the boat.
The
Gulf Harbors Fishing Club has something for all family members. It
is open to men, women and children who are members of the Gulf
Harbors Civic Association. There are no club membership fees, just
come to the meetings to join.
